The 14th Annual West Chelsea Artists Open Studios Frieze NYC Edition artist’s studios tour kick-off this spring art season with a
Preview Exhibition Reception, Friday, May 9th, 2025 at the West Chelsea Building Gallery 311 from 6 to 8 p.m.  Meet the participating artists and preview their art. Preview open to the public.

The Artists Open Studios Tour Starts Saturday, May 10th and Sunday, May 11th from 12- 6 p.m.

Preview Exhibition Reception: The West Chelsea Artists Open Studios spring tour starts May 9th with a Preview Exhibition Reception at the West Chelsea Building 311 Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. Meet the participating artists and preview their art.
The 311 Gallery is located at West Chelsea Building, 526, West 26th Street, 3rd floor.

Artists Open Studios Tour: West Chelsea Artists open their studios to the public on Saturday, May 10th and Sunday, 11th, 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Open Studios tour starts at the West Chelsea Building, 526 West 26th Street information center. Over 40 artists in more than 6 locations in the West Chelsea art gallery district will invite the public to tour their private studios.
 
The West Chelsea Art Gallery district’s Artists Open Studios event attracts art enthusiasts, collectors, curators, artists, and tourists to the neighborhood making it a community-wide celebration. Self-Guided Tour Maps will be available to pick-up in the lobby of 508 and 526 West 26th Street or download from our website, www.westchelseaartists.com
 
The artists of West Chelsea cordially invite public into their studios for “behind the scenes” access. Come meet the artists and see where they create their work. This is a prime opportunity to purchase a wide range of affordable artwork — paintings, drawings, prints, textiles, mixed media, photography, sculpture and more — directly from the artist, and without the gallery mark-up!

About: The West Chelsea Artists Open Studios provides a rare opportunity for the community and tourists to meet our local contemporary artists who keep this historic art neighborhood vibrant. The artists will be on-hand to show their most recent artworks and discuss their artistic practice. Artworks will be available in a wide range of media including — but not limited to— painting, sculpture, photography, mixed-media, textiles, prints, collage, street art, and much more!  
 
The intimate setting gives art buyers and collectors the rare opportunity to purchase artworks directly from the artists’ inventory without the gallery markup. It’s also a fantastic way to discover new emerging talent while their work is still affordable.  
 
The West Chelsea Artists Open Studios is organized and presented by West Chelsea artist, Scotto Mycklebust, artist/executive producer and the Public Art Squad Project.

New York, NY — April 11, 2025 — The West Chelsea Artists Open Studios (WCAOS) announces its 14th Annual Spring Tour, the Frieze NYC Edition, happening Saturday and Sunday, May 10–11, from 12–6 PM, with a special Preview Exhibition running May 10–11, from 12-6 p.m., at the historic West Chelsea Building, 526 West 26th Street, 311.

We invite all West Chelsea artists to participate by opening their studios and workspaces to the public. This is a rare opportunity for artists to showcase and sell their work directly, connect with collectors, and engage with thousands of art lovers drawn to the neighborhood during Frieze Week.

Artists Reception: Friday, May 9, 6–8 PM

Join us for an opening night celebration at the Preview Exhibition — meet the artists, view selected works, and kick off an exciting weekend of open studios in West Chelsea.

Artists in past editions have reported strong sales, major commissions, gallery invitations, press coverage, and meaningful connections with collectors and curators. The event draws a diverse and enthusiastic crowd of art patrons, tourists, and industry professionals.

Eligibility & Participation

WCAOS is open to all artists with studios or workspaces located in the West Chelsea area including Hudson Yards (North), the Whitney Museum and Westbeth (South), 6th Avenue (East), and the West Side Highway/11th Avenue (West).

Eligible spaces include: Commercial studios - Rented artist spaces - Accessible apartments - Pop-up exhibition spaces

Application Deadline: Monday, April 28, 2025

Artist Fee: $50 (covers shared marketing and printing expenses)

About WCAOS

Now in its 14th year, the West Chelsea Artists Open Studios provides a unique opportunity for the public to explore the creative spaces of over 60 local artists. Attendees will encounter a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, prints, textiles, and street art.

The event is a grassroots celebration of the neighborhood's vibrant artistic legacy, offering collectors the chance to acquire original works directly from the artists — without gallery markups — and to discover emerging talent before it hits the mainstream.

Tour maps will be available at 526 West 26th Street or downloadable from the website.
